**Job Summary:**
The Elevate Recreation Leader position involves providing direct service for adults with disabilities within the Elevate Day Program. This role entails working in a team with other Elevate Recreation Lead and the Elevate Day Program Coordinator to create a safe and stimulating environment for program participants.
**Schedule**
Monday-Friday 8:15A - 2:15P
**Possible Shifts:**
- 3 days per week, 8:15am – 2:15pm, approximately 20 hours per week
- 2 days per week, 8:15am – 2:15pm, approximately 15 hours per week
**Responsibilities:**
**Job Duty 1:** - Uphold and follow agency mission, values, policies, and procedures
**Primary Areas of Responsibility:**
- Reflect agency mission and values in interactions
- Maintain supportive and respectful interactions with participants and colleagues
- Adhere to Human Resources, administrative, and program-specific policies and procedures
- Follow training policies and procedures
**Job Duty 2:** - Provide program instruction for participants with disabilities
**Primary Areas of Responsibility:**
- Support individuals during the day program to promote participation, enjoyment, and independent functioning
- Assist in planning and developing camp activities
- Provide information and feedback to parents and family members
- Help individuals correctly and safely use equipment and materials
**Job Duty 3:** - Maintain a safe environment for all participants and staff
**Primary Areas of Responsibility:**
- Ensure dangerous materials and objects are out of reach
- Supervise the use of dangerous equipment and intervene when necessary
- Stay alert to individual behaviors and intervene as needed
- Maintain knowledge of individuals' whereabouts
- Follow safety procedures and document all incidents diligently
**Job Duty 4:** - Maintain program equipment, supplies, and workspace
**Primary Areas of Responsibility:**
- Assist individuals in setting up and cleaning up activities
- Return equipment and supplies to their designated places
- Contribute to overall cleanliness and maintenance of the program location
**Job Duty 5:** - Serve as a bus aide for assigned programs
**Primary Areas of Responsibility:**
- Assist individuals on and off buses and vans
- Provide support during bus rides, especially during behavioral incidents
- Ensure cleanliness of the vehicle after each trip
**Job Duty 6:** - Support people in a safe environment
**Primary Areas of Responsibility:**
- Maintain a clean driving record and vehicle in safe working condition
- Uphold safety rules and regulations at the program site and while driving
- Report maintenance issues promptly
- Participate in Defensive Driving training annually
**Education/Certification:**
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Certified Nursing Assistant Certification required
- Valid Illinois Driver's License required
**Experience:**
- Up to 1 year of job-related experience preferred
- 1 to 2 years of job-related experience highly preferred
**Abilities:**
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and productively
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
- Physical abilities such as prolonged standing, lifting, climbing, walking, and carrying, as well as basic computer skills and a valid Illinois Driver's License with insurance eligibility.
**Salary**
$18.60/hr.
