Maintenance Tech 1

Department: Facilities Management
Location: Elmhurst, IL

**Job Summary:**
The Maintenance Tech 1 (MT1) will be responsible for basic preventive building maintenance, including commercial/household repairs, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, appliance repair, and light carpentry tasks. This position will also involve pick-up/delivery of property, custodial duties, event set-up, and participation in special projects. The MT1 will work under the supervision of the Lead Service Tech and assist senior technicians as needed in various maintenance tasks such as renovation, concrete work, wall repair, painting, landscaping, snow removal, and more.

**Responsibilities:**
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and walkthroughs at different sites to ensure safety and comfort.
- Execute work orders assigned by the Lead Services Tech on time.
- Communicate any incomplete tasks to the supervisor promptly.
- Respond to emergencies, assess situations, lead team members to resolve issues, and coordinate repairs with vendors.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department on special projects and complete assigned tasks.
- Attend Facilities Management team meetings to contribute expertise and ensure departmental standards are met.
- Address requests from individuals supported by the organization and team members across programs.
- Maintain facilities for safe access by all individuals supported by the organization.
- Partner with RGA programs and approved vendors to meet maintenance needs and ensure proper functioning of building systems.

**Qualifications:**

**Education/Certification:**
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Valid Illinois Driver's License required.

**Experience:**
- Up to one year of job-related experience preferred.

**Abilities:**
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and carrying 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working with arms over the shoulder, climbing, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and walking long distances.
- Willingness to carry and respond to a pager and possess driving skills.

**Hours**

Monday - Friday 7:30-4pm (some late evenings/weekends as needed)

**Salary**

$18.00 per hour
